CaptiveWorks CW 800 - Viewing .gts Files on a Computer
C&P
Solutions for converting gts files so they can be viewed on a computer
(1) windows media player might play the file as is;
(2) KMPlayer is supposed to work fine (I guess that is the same as this:
(3) "Conevertstream" is supposedly made by CW to make gts files viewable (google "conevertstream.zip" the misspelling is the way the file is spelled.);
(4) Visual Hub is a mac program that is supposed to work perfectly for viewing and/or converting gts files;
(5) gts is derived from mpeg and some people claim you can just rename the extension from .gts to .mpeg or .mpg and it will work.;
(6) ConvertXtoDVD is supposed to convert the gts into a DVD-burnable file format--that is supposed to work fine;
(7) You can convert the actual .gts file to whatever other format using VideoReDo (www.videoredo.com/en/index.htm)
(8) I would be surprised if VLC would not be able to play the file--it is supposed to be able to play any kind of video file. google "VLC video player" to find it. That is one program i have tried and I use regularly--no virus, no spyware, free program. Very great program.
Here are convertstream instructions written by rblanche1965 on another forum:
convertstream
It is made by CaptiveWorks, specifically for converting the .gts files to .mpg
How to use it;
in the Open box, browse to the .gts file you want to convert.
in the Save box, browse to the location where you want to save the .mpg file
in the File name box put in the name the file to be called (example; converted.mpg) ignore the fact that it shows you can only save as *.ts and *.gts.
then click OK. it will seem like it is doing nothing, but it is converting the file. It will pop up a message box stating that the file has been converted.
