Here is a great How To l came across awhile ago sorry not sure where l got it from but will be helpful and thanks to the person who did this.

* Hook your receiver up to the computer with a null cable

* (Boot Mode) Turn the receiver on with the back switch, while holding front power button in (you should see boot on front screen of receiver) or (Standby Mode) Turn the receiver on with the back switch, wait for it to cycle then push front power button (you should see --:-- on front screen)

* Open the 1.05 or 1.06 loader

* Select Download S/W

* Select a com port

* Click on the folder icon and choose the bin file, you will see a popup select the file, then you will see another popup saying (Verifing File)

* Click the Start Button and wait for the file to load (do not interrupt this process) when the file is done loading you will see END on the front of your receiver turn the receiver off with the back switch, unhook null cable and hook to TV and let's start the setup procedures

* When you 1st start it up you will see Setup Wizard [1/4] Choose you language then press ok on RCU, Choose 2nd language press ok on RCU, Choose your timezone (- 06:00 Central) summertime off for winter on for summer press ok on RCU

* Here is the important part Antenna Settings(I suggest a factory default ALL for 1st time loads before proceeding)

* Satellite Name - use the arrow buttons on RCU scroll right until you find your Sat(they are listed by name and degree)

* Example = 17Echostar7(119W)
* Transponder - You should see 12224/V/20000/5/6
* LNB Freq. - 11250
* LNB Type - Select Normal for legacy lnb's or OSC-DP for DishPro lnb's
* 22KHz - OFF(unless you have that type of switch)
* Diseqc Number - Select LNB 1-4(port cable is hooked up to on switch)most common used setting
* Legacy SW - OFF(unless your using legacy switch)
* Motorised System - None(unless your using a motor)

* Now push the red button on your RCU and let it scan, after it finishes you will have to repeat this process for your other Sats.(remember Satellite name will change and switch number will change for each sat) I strongly urge you to write all these settings down for future reference.

* Now hit the exit button on your remote until you see the main menu screen. Scroll down to System setting press ok on RCU, select System then ok on RCU, I'm just going tell you to edit the important things for now.(you can test the others later)

* The 1st three are you language preferences
* Close Caption - I recommend OFF
* Channel NO - Sid(this will show you the # by the provider)
* TV System - NTSC
* TV Screen Format - I use Auto
* Recall History - I use off(if on will give you a running list of channels you were on)
* Auto TP - On
* Key Update Message - I use off(your choice you will know when keys changed if you have video or not)

* Now hit exit on You RCU and choose OSD, again I'm just goin to tell you the important ones for now.

* Time Display Format - 12(24 = Military Time)
* Auto Roll - On

* Now hit exit on RCU back to main menu screen scroll down to Accessories press ok on RCU, Then Config City press ok on RCU, scroll untill you find your State then hit ok on RCU, select a City near to you. This will give you the option to type in the call #'s on your RCU for your local providers to watch their channels.

* Now exit out of everything press the F1 button on your remote you will see an H on the front of your receiver type 000 on your RCU, your TV should have a popup that says patch enabled.

* If you followed all these steps as soon as the keys roll, you should be enjoying your CaptiveWorks. Later by going back into the menu, selecting Channel Manager/TV Channels you can delete unwanted channels by following the onscreen key commands.
