A THANK YOU to TVKEYZ Site and Staff.....
We've been lurkers and file hunters here for a couple of years and VERY MUCH appreciate your site and its staff.
I say we are 'lurkers', but only if we are seeking information.
If we see a question and KNOW the answer as fact, not rumor, then we would post or chat to help a 'newbie'.
OUR FTA EXPERIENCES before TVKEYZ
We have 3 FTA Brands, and have been doing this in one form or another for several years.
My husband learned how to successfully set up our FTA's, as well as troubleshooting, from hours and hours of reading forums, not only about our brand boxes but what 'tweeks' others have found, if it could apply to ours.
He also has experimented and learned the capabilities of FTA through trial and error.
Only on a rare occasion has he asked for help, perhaps not wanting to admit failure....but definitely not wanting to be told what he should already know, especially since those who 'help' others in some sites are patronizing and condescending, as if they were born with the knowledge they're being asked to share. AS if you shouldn't try to use FTA if you don't already know what you're doing.
Before finding TVKEYZ we spent years bouncing from one forum to the next reading and learning how to use our FTA to it full potential, however, when it came time for new files we'd spend hours searching for a site with just enough bandwidth to find out if our solution was even available....the files we need could be there for hours or even days before we could get in a site to get them. We even joined a 'paid' file site, reading their claim of having files available long before the free sites. They got them when everyone else got them....not a minute faster.....the only advantage was being able to get in to get them. If we needed help other than files a free site is better because more members means more knowledge, no matter what your problem is chances are someone else has had the same problem and can tell you how they fixed it.
But most of the time we just need to know the obvious....is DN down? What new files are up?
TVKEYZ gives us QUICK ANSWERS!
We first found TVKEYZ wjen we had to do key changes once or twice every day....it was great!
No more waiting hours to finally get into a forum, just in time to need new keys:eek:
When TV goes down the first question everyone asks is 'Is it just my box, or is everyone?'
Is it a file or key issue??
With TVKEYS we can find out in an instant what is going on, even if the answer is to 'wait' at least it is an answer that didn't take hours of 'refreshing' to get!!
Of course we show up with the heard when DN goes down, never needing to join the chorus of 'Is DN Down?'
30 seconds of the rapidly moving chat makes it obvious, and gives me the answer I came for, if it isn't already posted on the site.
Then I'll check back every couple hours and check for my brands' files....its so simple, and best of all it LOADS....slow is ok, it has to be swamped...as long as it loads, and it always does:D
WHEN DN GOES DOWN....we are waiting....what to do??
But since there's no tv.... why not just watch the 'TVKEYZ show'??? Its a re-run, same plot, mostly the same cast of characters, but always interesting!
The panic of the incoming chatters and their massive redundancy of urgent need....I empathize with the patient moderators and how they must feel like tenured college professors suddenly in charge of a kindergarten class....wiping noses and tying shoes....acting excited all 16 times you're told that Susan has a new Kitty, all without letting your ever-growing level exasperation show!
:taz:
There are times the moderators should be nominated for SAINTHOOD, patently repeating the same obvious answer to the onslaught of help-seekers without being patronizing or rude even when treated as if THEY made the tv go away!! They show empathy for those who complain about what they are 'missing' (even giving game scores, or Nascar standings!) They tolerate those demand to know WHEN exactly will THEIR box be fixed, often giving a 'best guess' time frame.....depending on how they were asked, the rude questions on when all get the same answer, tomorrow! (AS if the code writers are hanging out in a chat room, giving updates of their progress!)
They have the power of the BAN, they protect us from attempts to darken a safe and pleasant place to visit, removing any deviant visitors or those who's goal is to annoy and disrupt the conversations. I would think they must struggle to refrain from removing those who are 'innocently annoying', genuine in their need help even if the answers they seek are not only obvious, but also are posted on the site, and have been given-repeatedly.....the 'innocently annoying' visitors are MANY. One after the other, they come, they ask, and they come back later and ask again.
To aid the Obvious-Challenged they use big red letters to give the answer to the question they all seek.....so there's no need to ask....but yet they do, just to clarify that they are indeed a part of the group "ALL" the message was posted for.
Eventually frustration takes its toll, beware the next unwary visitor, the innocently annoying, HIS need too urgent to allow him time to read, he seeks the knowledge of Those-Who's-Names-Appear-In-Red...knowing HIS need must certainly be unique....he asks the magic question...the one answered uncounted times in past last hours ....and with it he provided the proverbial 'last straw.' :gun:
I get a kick out of the banter between the 'usual' crowd with thier predictions involving the 'ban stick', usually withheld only for the truly deserving. The repeated warning in big red letters dares no man to ask the only thing we all want to know.....we watch as a new name appears in the chat and asks THAT question, the topic of repeated warnings (which he must have missed having just gotten there,) and the crowd goes wild! :ban: It must be experience like discovering a fence is electric....hopefully a lesson only learned once to he who asked as well as all who were witness, also ready to ask. Do they Learn?? Do they now know....read before you type...no one can predict the future, not even those in RED.....and it is futile to complain to someone with a problem identical to yours!
I can only hope the innocent-turned-example during those frustrating times don't take it to personally, and have learned it is a good idea to watch the conversation before jumping in, and always look for BIG RED LETTERS, that is probably important information.:p
An evening spent watching the TVKeyz show (chat box) can provide entertainment as well valuable knowledge. Not only what NOT to ask and WHEN not to ask it....since the answer is either obvious or provided repeatedly. The speculation and 'informed' rumors about the future of FTA, as well as 'paranoia' turning coincidence and imagination into truths , someone's sudden realizations passed on as 'facts', provided as a selfless public service, typically either common knowledge or irrelevant to FTA.
I applaud the Moderators for dispelling/correcting the myths, rumors and misstatements with respect of those who brought them to all in good faith. They don't condemn the messenger just because the 'NEWS' is bogus. That is NOT the case other places I've been, those just trying to be helpful are treated as if they were being malicious by passing on a false rumor or answers that don't help.
Yes the TVKEYZ chat show can be very entertaining!
WHEN WE HAVE ASKED FOR HELP at TVKEYZ
On the rare occasion we need help ((NOT related to DN being down, or waiting for files)) the TVKEYZ staff has provided knowledgeable and concise answers. I've seen newbies being 'walked through' setup and bin loading....questions often answered at other places with a patronizing reply to go read a how-to guide (which is also a good idea, but when you follow the guide and still have a problem, you should not be treated like an idiot for asking for help!)
Bin's often have a little 'tweak' for the best performance, and they always seem to know them.
Sometimes I'll stop in for a different reason and see them giving instructions for fixing minor problems we had been content to tolerate.
It is nice to have immediate help for the little things, not having to wait for a forum reply.
One night we were trying to find a ballgame that had already started on espn but could not find it in our channel list....we could scan, but who wants to run a full scan while missing the game?!?
A TP scan was the solution but how would we find out what TP?
I ran to TVKEYS and had the answer within 2 minutes, as well as the channel numbers and tp's for a couple of clone stations we didn't know existed as alternatives if the scan missed the main one!
So that's it, all the reasons we appreciate, and enjoy TVKEYZ, (even the innocently annoying chasing frustrated moderators are entertaining)....I always thank the Moderators when we find what we came for when I visit (and notice many more don't!)
In case my one little Thank You went unnoticed....
:clap:THANK YOU TVKEYZ SITE AND STAFF:clap:
Keep up the GREAT work, and the Mod's IMMENSE Patience!
:argue:
Sincerely, Mud and Mudmansgal
