BIG CRASH COMING!

I heard through the grape vine that Bell has finally come up with something that will make all boxes not matter what company, brand, etc CRASH. I do not know how true this is but it did come from a Bell employee. From what I understand the crash is to happen very shortly other than that I do not have any information as to when...sorry...I do hope this is just a rumor and not fact.

My Coolsat 7000 has been acting up for a frew days as well. Also lost at least half of the channels.

Same here..Testing CS6100 91.0 w level is 94%, quality is 95 % Tried a rescan, hard boot... soft boot (several x's) different files starting with v166 to the new v189 nothing :sad: Time to wait for a new file :shit: it was going so well.

My 2 boxes----Viewsat Ultra and CNX Mini are working just fine on both providers-----I would say operator errors is most likely the cause of most peoples problems.

Here is a C&P I found. May shed some light on bev probs...As setwire posted, my VS extreme has no problem right now with bev..I also am getting at least 80 channels on the new nimiq 4 @ 82W::




Reporting Here in a nutshell what is happening updated Oct 17,2008.

DN:
DN momentarily removed MECM handling from their stream. There was a fair bit of concern that this forewarned a change in the stream, a New MECM - new map call - something. At 2:30pm EST DN reinserted MECM code in the stream, meaning that the only units up are units that released bins after September 29th.

Bev:
Bev did a number of things causing problems for some (not all) folks.

1) A month ago bev removed MECM handling from the stream. It is widely believed this was done in preparation for moving to Nagra 3.

2) 2 weeks ago they replaced Nimiq 2 with Nimiq 4. Nimiq 4 carried the same lineup as the old Nimiq 2 (on the same TP's), but significantly tightened the signal. If you are in Canada - this didn't effect you. Many folks in the US are no longer able to receive this satellite.

3) 1 week ago, Bev changed the priority of the streams on several channels. The old Nagra 2 signal was "downgraded" in priority, and the new nagra 3 stream was "upgraded" in priority. This caused problems with about 20% of the currently employed receivers (most notably CW's), but was quickly fixed by those with the issue.

4) As of this week, certain channels on the 82 Satellite have stopped providing Nagra2 streams, and provide only the newer Nagra3 streams. These channels are currently black on ALL testing methods. Currently this is limited to channels 781, 782 and a few 800 series HD channels.


Nagra 3 is here people, and it's here to stay (for now). Those of you who were around in 05/06 remember this all too well with the switch to Nagra2. Channels will start to switch over, one or 2, then international and porn, then the rest of the premiums and locals, then the tv will be black and you will be upgrading your dvd collection.

Your guess is as good as mine...nag 3 is here and I'm sure the coders will not show their hand until the time comes. It appears bev may go first...then we'll see. Not much we can do. As far as your CW and bev don't know what to tell ya. My VS is fine using a file from 9-29.

LOL, The joys of rookie Fta users already in full fledged panic mode! I would hate to see what will happen very shortly! :) It will be total khaos in here with people crying for fixes and repeating the famous words"how long till we have a fix" and "why doesnt my box work"
But in theory maybe if you rookies did your research on Nagra 3 before the so called reliable guy at the local sat shop down the store told you that for X amount of dollars he will guarantee you FREE tv, you would of seen this coming along time ago.
Who knows what the future in this game holds, it is a continuous game of always trying to get the upper hand on each other.Will it end? Who really knows it's the chance we take in this Hobby and if you cant afford to lose the money then dont invest in this game.
Rumours are circulating about a potential fix, but seeing is believing and right now the FTA underground is holding their cards close to their vest and waiting for the next play! I personally am optimistic that we may in time have a fix How long Who knows! LOL But i also thought the same about DTv and that was over 5 years ago! :)

Same was said of DTV Hackers---------4 Years later-----still No DTV Hack.

Nice to be optimistic -------- But one must be realistic as well------Nagra 3 has been in Europe for over a year----still No Hack.

That is the reality of Nagra3 at present.

Yes without a major leak or a hack your FTA reciever will be a waste of money! Its the harsh reality of this everchanging game of trying to get the upper hand,although it will be a few months before Dn is affected! But bev is on its way out very soon without a fix!Some say this month but we shall see!

Not sure if any of this helps, but i went to my parents house the other day and DN has sent smartcards for thier 625 dvr and single 301. The letter states that the upgrade needs to be done in the next few weeks or all programming will be lost. Until now, dvr's needed no cards. I am not sure if the xards have to stay in the box or can be removed afterwards. If they could be removed, i would have figured they would just update through the stream. I will scan and post a copy of the letter if anyone thinks it might help. just let me know.

That letter is refering to your parents system & cards specifically !
When you get your new cards you have a limited time to perform the swap or YOU will lose programming on your old cards.

The letter does not mean the entire swap is complete for everyone !!

And cards must be left in the receivers..the receiver doesn't work without the card in place !
